Hello Deviants!
I must apologize deeply and sincerely for the delay in announcing the winners of my February/March contest for hands photography. Life had its way with me for a while, but now that I am back in a period of peace and calm I can finally unveil the very worthy winners of the contest! Thank you all so, so much for your patience!
I’d like to say that the entries for this contest were all beautiful, and the judges and I had a tough time deciding who ought to win. A warm congratulations to all the entrants, as they all displayed rich and poignant emotions through their lenses!
Now for the winners!
First Place:
’s piece, “Sus Manos”
This is a deeply moving photograph, filled with complex and painful emotions. The judges and I were further touched by the accompanying poem. The technique of the photograph itself is magnificent, displaying themes both of hope and faith, as well as an inference to the fleeting time we spend on our planet through the inclusion of his watch. The judges and I would like to express our deepest wishes that your father recovers with all speed. Congratulations!
For her work, wins:
- A 6-month Premium Membership to DA
- A fully coloured drawing by myself
- A feature in my journal
- A feature by the group Passion for Photos (go check them out here! passion-for-photos.deviantart.…)
- A feature by the group Photo Assignments (go check them out here! photo--assignment.deviantart.c…)
- A feature by the group Photographers' Place (go check them out here! photographersplace.deviantart.…)
- A feature by the group Digital Photo (go check them out here! digital-photo.deviantart.com/)
- A journal feature from =Berryness
- A journal feature from =crazyal154
- A print of her choice in my album of photography
Second Place:
’s piece “Mine”
This is a beautiful photograph, filled with the innocence of infanthood. The colours are especially striking, creating an air of nostalgia. The framing is effective as well, providing a sense of anonymity to the subject by omitting the ever-emotive eyes to instead focus on the form of the hands. The poem is delightful, portraying with stunning clarity and insight the character of the subject. Congratulations!
For her work, wins:
- A 3-month Premium Membership to DA
- Lineart drawing of your choice by myself
- A feature in my journal
- A feature by the group Passion for Photos (go check them out here! passion-for-photos.deviantart.…)
- A feature by the group Photo Assignments (go check them out here! photo--assignment.deviantart.c…)
- A feature by the group Photographers' Place (go check them out here! photographersplace.deviantart.…)
- A feature by the group Digital Photo (go check them out here! digital-photo.deviantart.com/)
- A journal feature from =Berryness
- A journal feature from =crazyal154
Third Place:
's piece "Clean your hands"
This photograph is filled with the childlike whimsy and fun of the subject herself! The natural colours and lighting lend reality to the dreamlike rainbow of the giant bubble. The hands themselves are given ample room to shine as well, with beautiful detail. The description is short and sweet, almost like an excerpt from a novel. Nicely done!
For her work, wins:
- A 1-month Premium Membership to DA
- A feature in my journal
- A feature by the group Passion for Photos (go check them out here! passion-for-photos.deviantart.…)
- A feature by the group Photo Assignments (go check them out here! photo--assignment.deviantart.c…)

UPDATE - Opening Day! - Hands Photography Contest
Today is the OPENING DAY for the Hands Photography Contest! Here is an updated list of the rules and prize list!
:rose: Intro:
Although your face is the epicenter of displays of emotion, it is also indisputable that your hands are rich with storytelling from birthmarks and scars, to rings and tattoos, your hands are canvases of their own, painting the story of a lifetime. Your hands grasp, they gesture, they venture, they comfort. Hands have always fascinated me, from the intricacy of their lines to their hidden wells of expression.
That is why this contest is dedicated to hands more specifically, the photography thereof.

So yes, this first journal entry is the commemoration of... my first journal entry! I take extreme pleasure from the hilarity of tautology.
No doubt, this entry will go without fanfare, quite unlike most commemorations should. Any good commemoration should be a party, complete with streamers, balloons, confetti, and those little party hats that invariably make any and all who wear it look like utter fools. But for the sake of partying - hey, why the heck not?
No, this humble journal entry will be reserved for the fanciest nonsense you may ever have read. (:D)
My efforts have recently been taken with trying to convince my sister to join Dev
